Welcome to my portfolio! I’m Stuart Koretz, a passionate photographer whose journey began with a simple Kodak Brownie camera. From that moment, I became captivated by the art of capturing images that reflect my vision of the world. Photography, for me, is not just about taking pictures; it's about the joy of showcasing the beauty and complexity of our surroundings, whether natural or man-made.

My Artistic Focus

Throughout my career, I’ve developed a keen eye for structural elements and composition. My early work centered on travel and landscape photography, heavily influenced by iconic photographers such as Ansel Adams and Galen Rowell. Their remarkable ability to harness light and landscape inspired me to explore the outdoors and capture its essence.

As my artistic expression evolved, so too did my style. I've delved into more abstract photography, often using minimal post-processing to stay true to the scenes I encountered. This is particularly evident in my "Landscapes: Abstract" gallery, where you can see the intricate patterns found in the Australian Outback from an aerial perspective. At the same time, I enjoy manipulating images to evoke emotions or recreate impressions, a technique showcased in my "Nature Reinterpreted" gallery.

Exploring the Man-Made World

In addition to the natural landscapes, I find inspiration in the patterns and designs of the man-made environment. Influenced by the works of Ilse Bing and Joseph Sudek, I strive to compose photographs that reveal the beauty inherent in architectural and urban settings. My "Man-Made Interpretive" gallery reflects this fascination, featuring images that may be digitally transformed to achieve a desired abstract effect.
